Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has put an end to speculation surrounding the future of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), making it clear that the shared universe will continue despite recent rumours.

Speaking at a public event, Lokesh dismissed reports suggesting that the LCU had come to an end. He remarked that while he could even consider shutting down his production banner, G Squad, he would not abandon the cinematic universe that audiences have embraced.

The director pointed out that the term “LCU” was originally coined by fans and later adopted by him. He said the universe still has several planned projects, including ‘Kaithi 2’, ‘Vikram 2’ and the standalone ‘Rolex’ film, all of which remain part of his commitments.

Lokesh also confirmed that ‘Benz’, which is being produced under his banner and directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, is an official chapter in the LCU. He added that work on the franchise will resume after he completes his upcoming film with Allu Arjun.

The LCU began with ‘Kaithi’ in 2019 before expanding through ‘Vikram’ and ‘Leo’. The next instalment, ‘Benz’, stars Raghava Lawrence and Ravi Mohan, though its release date has not yet been announced.

Apart from his directorial commitments, Lokesh is preparing for his acting debut in Arun Matheswaran’s ‘DC’, scheduled for release on July 31. He is also directing an action film starring Allu Arjun, currently referred to as ‘AA23’, before returning to his interconnected franchise projects.
