Vijay clears long-pending film subsidies worth Rs 16 crore, brings relief to 224 producers

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has released approximately Rs 16 crore in financial assistance for 224 Tamil film producers, clearing grants that had reportedly remained pending for nearly seven years.

Producer T Siva shared the news on social media on Saturday, expressing gratitude to the chief minister for approving the long-awaited payments.

Siva said the release of funds would provide much-needed financial support to producers who had faced significant losses in the film business. He noted that nearly 90% of the beneficiaries had experienced severe financial setbacks, with several struggling to sustain their livelihoods after producing films.

Describing the announcement as a festive-season relief, Siva said the assistance would bring renewed hope to families dependent on the Tamil film industry.

The funds are expected to help struggling producers recover from prolonged financial difficulties and offer a boost to the industry’s smaller players.
