Tamil cinema producers have welcomed the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to allow up to six shows a day for new film releases during their opening week, with screenings permitted as early as 6 am.
The move has generated excitement among filmmakers, particularly those preparing for major releases on November 6.
Suriya’s ‘Scene’, Nayanthara’s ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ and Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, are among the films set to benefit from the revised screening schedule.
Passion Studios expressed gratitude to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay for introducing what it described as a progressive measure for the film industry.
The production house said the additional shows would offer theatres greater flexibility in scheduling screenings and create more opportunities for films across different budget categories.
It also acknowledged the contribution of Rajmohan, the minister overseeing the film technology and cinematograph portfolio, in facilitating the decision.
Meanwhile, Vels Film International, the production banner behind ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’, issued a separate message thanking the Chief Minister and the minister for approving the extended screening hours.
The company said the permission to conduct six shows daily, including the first screening at 6 am, would help bring the film to a larger audience across Tamil Nadu.
The production house described the decision as an encouraging development for filmmakers and movie lovers, adding that it would support the growth of Tamil cinema and provide audiences with more opportunities to watch films on the big screen.
With early morning screenings now permitted, the upcoming releases are expected to benefit from expanded show schedules and increased accessibility for fans.
