Ilaiyaraaja’s nephew Jaiyan to make acting debut with musical drama ‘Raja’s Playlist’

Jaiyan, nephew of legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja, is set to enter Tamil cinema as an actor with the upcoming film ‘Raja’s Playlist’.

The project will be directed by Sujith N. Subramaniam, who previously worked as the cinematographer for ‘Kudumbasthan’. The film marks Sujith’s debut as a director.

Jaiyan is the youngest son of late producer R.D. Bhaskar, the elder brother of Ilaiyaraaja. Bhaskar played a significant role in supporting the celebrated composer’s early career and earned widespread respect within the Tamil film industry for his contributions as a producer and his close association with several prominent filmmakers.

Continuing the family’s long-standing connection with cinema, Jaiyan will headline what is described as an emotional musical family drama centred on relationships and the enduring influence of music.

The film has brought together several well-known names from the industry. Producer Ramanan Balagangatharan has backed the project, while filmmaker Venkat Prabhu has written the story. The music will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, making the film a collaboration that reflects the family’s rich musical legacy.
