Suriya, Karthi donate Rs 10 lakh to film workers, FEFSI calls for more help

With the film workers not getting any wages in view of the halt of shootings and other works due to coronavirus outbreak, their livelihood is affected. To help them overcome the crisis, Sivakumar, Suriya and Karthi have donated Rs 10 lakh to Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI).

Sakthi Film Factory said in a tweet: “#SivaKumar Iyya,  @Suriya_offl Anna, @Karthi_Offl Sir  family has donated ₹10 Lakhs to #FEFSI workers who are facing industry shutdown due to #CoronavirusOutbreak #Covid19.”

FEFSI president RK Selvamani said in a statement that he got a phone call from one of his members saying that he couldn’t even provide proper food to his family.

He said nearly 15,000 workers are unable to fulfill the basic needs of their family members and requested affluent actors and producers to donate Rs 1 crore so that FEFSI can at least provide rice bags to their members.

Meanwhile, Suriya has shared an awareness video about Coronavirus, urging people to stay home. Karthi has also urged everyone to stay at home.
