Speculation is rife on social media regarding the potential sequel to the hit film ‘Jailer’ directed by Nelson and starring Superstar Rajinikanth.
According to reports circulating online, the sequel to ‘Jailer’ is tentatively titled ‘Hukum’, named after a celebrated song from the original film. Sources suggest that pre-production work for the sequel is underway, with filming expected to commence in late 2024 or early 2025. However, there has been no official confirmation from the filmmakers regarding these developments.
It’s important to note that director Nelson clarified a month ago that he is uncertain if ‘Jailer 2’ will be his next project, urging fans to await an official announcement.
Speculation about ‘Jailer 2’ began when actor Mirnaa Menon, who played Rajinikanth’s daughter-in-law in the first installment, mentioned in an interview that Nelson is working on the script for the sequel. However, whether she will be involved in the project or not is solely at the director’s discretion.
Released on August 9, 2023, ‘Jailer’ received positive response from audiences and emerged a blockbuster. The film revolves around Muthuvel Pandian (portrayed by Rajinikanth), a former jailer who must confront a dangerous criminal to rescue his kidnapped son (played by Vasanth Ravi).
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently occupied with the shooting of TJ Gnanavel’s ‘Vettaiyan’, and preparations for his 171st film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj are underway.
