After remaining in limbo for several years, Vikram’s ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ may finally be heading towards a theatrical release.
Director Gautham Vasudev Menon has told the Madras High Court that he has secured an investor who could help address the financial requirements needed to release the long-delayed film.
The court has granted Menon additional time to work towards releasing the film before October 31. Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy has also directed the filmmaker to submit records relating to an alleged payment of Rs 10.57 crore to actor Vikram.
The documents have to be placed before court-appointed observers HV Hredai and MV Swaroop, who are looking into the financial and other issues connected with the project.
Menon’s production banner, Kondaduvom Entertainment, had previously requested an extension after missing an earlier deadline. The filmmaker had been given time until June 15 to settle the outstanding issues and make arrangements for the film’s release.
Since the release did not take place within that period, further extensions were sought. The latest hearing focused on the proposed investor’s financial arrangements and the obligations linked to the film.
The observers have also asked for clarification regarding the reported payment to Vikram. The court has consequently instructed Menon to produce documentary evidence establishing whether the amount was paid and explaining the mode of payment. The observers will also examine the reasons cited for seeking more time before the case proceeds further.
