Rajinikanth meets Muslim leaders, says will do his best for unity & peace

For the second consecutive day, superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday met leaders from the Muslim community and is understood to have promised to play an active role to help peace return.

A day after Haj Association leader Abu Backer met Rajinikanth at his Poes Garden residence, representatives of the Tamil Nadu Jamatul Ulama Sabai met the actor on Sunday and explained their fears over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, National Register of Citizens (NCR) and National Population Register (NPR).

K M Baqavi, TNJUS President, said Rajinikanth assured the delegation that he would do the needful. Rajinikanth, who is set to float his political party soon, had earlier said he would be the first person to raise voice even if a single Muslim was affected by the CAA.

Baqavi added: “We told him our stand and we explained to him our fears and why Muslims are opposing CAA. We told him that people are in fear and he offered his support to ensure that peace returns. He gave a patient hearing to us.”

Stating that they spoke to the actor about their concerns and explained to him the issue, Baqavi said by the end of the meeting, the superstar “offered all his support in his might to help peace return.”
