Vijay Sethupathi is set to headline a new feature film to be directed by filmmaker Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, marking the first collaboration between the two. The project was officially announced by producer Sagar Pentela of Rise East Entertainment, which is backing the film alongside IVY Entertainment.
The announcement puts an end to recent speculation surrounding a possible partnership between Vijay Sethupathi and Kiruthiga. The film also reunites Rise East Entertainment and the director after their earlier association on the web series ‘Paper Rocket’.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the venture, Sagar Pentela described the project as a significant and ambitious undertaking featuring one of Indian cinema’s most versatile performers. Kiruthiga also shared her excitement about working with Vijay Sethupathi and the team assembled for the film.
While the makers have chosen to keep details about the story, genre and supporting cast under wraps for now, industry sources indicate that production is expected to commence in Puducherry next week. The project has already generated considerable buzz within the industry, with reports suggesting it could rank among the costliest films in Vijay Sethupathi’s career.
The film boasts an experienced technical crew. Acclaimed cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa will handle the visuals, while music composer OfRo has been brought on board to score the soundtrack. Production design responsibilities will be overseen by art director Selvakumar.
