A court in Hyderabad has directed actor Allu Arjun and other individuals named in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case to appear in person on June 22. The summons were issued after police submitted a charge sheet in connection with the tragic incident that occurred during the premiere screening of ‘Pushpa 2’ in December 2024.
Investigators have reportedly named a total of 23 people as accused in the case. According to reports, several members of the theatre’s management, including the owner, partners and operational staff, have been listed among the primary accused. Allu Arjun has also been included in the list as one of the accused individuals.
The case stems from a stampede that took place at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, 2024, when large crowds gathered outside the venue during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2’. Amid the rush, a 35-year-old woman lost her life, while her young son sustained injuries. The incident drew widespread attention and led to a detailed police investigation.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family, Hyderabad police registered a case against the actor, members of his security team and representatives of the theatre management under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities subsequently conducted an inquiry into the circumstances that led to the crowd surge.
Allu Arjun was taken into custody on December 13, 2024, as part of the investigation. He was released the following day after receiving interim relief from the Telangana High Court and was later granted regular bail. Legal proceedings in the matter have continued since then.
