Tamil cinema fans were eagerly awaiting Suriya’s next big outing, ‘Karuppu’, for a Deepavali release — but the actor and director RJ Balaji have now confirmed that the film will hit theatres only next year.

According to Balaji, the delay is due to extensive technical and VFX work still in progress, ensuring that the film meets the team’s visual standards.

Despite the postponement, the makers released  the first single ‘God Mode’ from the movie, keeping the festival buzz alive.

‘Karuppu’ reportedly showcases Suriya in a dual-layered role, possibly a man leading two contrasting lives — one of moral conviction and another of retribution.

The movie also reunites Suriya with actress Trisha, marking their comeback pairing after several years.

Industry insiders hint that ‘Karuppu’ could now target a Pongal 2026 release, setting up an exciting potential clash with Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’.
