The makers of Dhanush-starrer ‘OM: Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood’ have introduced Mammootty’s character on the occasion of the actor’s birthday.
Mammootty plays Burma Karthikeyan, a smuggler who appears to have earned the respect of both ordinary people and the police. A character-reveal video introduces him as a powerful figure who also looks after the people around him.
Because of his influence, Burma Karthikeyan is known as ‘Siya’, or ‘The Elder One’. The glimpse presents him as a morally complex character rather than a straightforward villain or hero.
The character himself describes his nature through an analogy involving gold mixed with small traces of copper, hinting that Siya possesses both positive qualities and darker sides.
‘OM: Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood’ is written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, known for ‘Amaran’. Dhanush plays the lead role in the film.
The project marks Mammootty’s return to Tamil cinema after seven years and has attracted attention with the combination of Mammootty and Dhanush.
