Actress Sunainaa has announced plans to initiate legal proceedings against individuals involved in producing and circulating an obscene video that allegedly uses an AI-manipulated version of her face.
In a statement released on Instagram, the actor said her image had been digitally inserted into explicit content without her permission. She strongly denied any involvement in the video and cautioned against spreading false claims linking her to the material.
Expressing her outrage, Sunainaa described the incident as a serious infringement of her privacy, dignity and personal identity. She also said the unauthorised content could amount to sexual harassment and defamation, attracting action under applicable Indian laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The actor has demanded that those responsible immediately stop producing, uploading or distributing the video. Her appeal also covers edited versions and any further circulation through social media platforms, online groups or private messages.
Sunainaa has warned that legal consequences may extend to people who share or repost the content, even if they were not involved in its original creation. She has asked anyone who already has the video to remove it from their accounts and devices.
Making her position clear, the actor said she would pursue legal remedies without issuing further warnings. She has also appealed to her supporters and the media to refrain from circulating the material and instead report accounts or platforms hosting it.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create sexually explicit deepfakes of individuals without their consent, raising concerns about online safety, privacy and accountability.
