Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting venture ‘DC’, directed by Arun Matheswaran, is set to arrive on SonyLIV on October 16. The streaming platform announced the digital premiere on October 9, giving viewers another opportunity to watch the action drama.
The film had previously premiered on Sun NXT on September 4.
Adapted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s 1917 novel ‘Devdas’, the film marks Lokesh’s first major outing as a lead actor after his earlier cameo appearances.
The story follows Devadas, played by Lokesh, an outcast who seeks redemption and justice after taking revenge against those responsible for hurting an innocent family.
The cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Krish Dayal, Avinash Raghudevan and Thalaivasal Vijay, among others.
‘DC’ received favourable reviews and reportedly earned more than ₹50 crore at the box office. Its reworking of the familiar ‘Devdas’ narrative, along with its performances, music and visual presentation, contributed to its reception among audiences.
Arun Matheswaran previously directed Dhanush’s ‘Captain Miller’. Lokesh, meanwhile, is preparing to return to filmmaking with his upcoming collaboration with Allu Arjun following Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’.
The October 16 streaming date will give audiences who missed the film earlier a chance to catch the action drama online.
