Kollywood gearing up for some big releases in 2023- F’day Spl, Article by Naveen  

2023 seems to be an important year for the Tamil film industry as many big films of the stars are scheduled for a release. The year began with the clash of Vijay’s ‘Varisu‘ and Ajith’s ‘Thunivu’.

Both the actors will be having one more movie releasing this. While Vijay is shooting for ‘Leo’, director for Ajith Kumar’s 62nd flick is yet to be finalised.

Apart from these two movies, there are a few Tamil films releasing in 2023 that are expected to shatter box office records.

The second part of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ directed by Mani Ratnam is all set to be released on 28 April.

Star cast of the movie includes Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles.

The first part was a blockbuster and shattered box office records in India and abroad.

The second part is also expected to create new records in the box office.

Starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson Dhilipkumar, shooting for the movie is taking place in Mangalore at present.

The title announcement video and posters have raised expectations for the film.

The movie has an ensemble of cast including Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannah, Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu among others.

‘Jailer’ is expected to be released for Deepavali this year. Music for the movie will be by Anirudh Ravichander.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, ‘Leo’ starring Vijay is one of the highly anticipated movies of this year.

Shooting for the movie is currently happening in Kashmir and the movie is slated to be released on 19 October.

The film is expected to be part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe.

Star cast of the movie also includes Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin and Mansoor Ali Khan among others.

Music for the movie is by Anirudh Ravichander.

The movie is the sequel to ‘Indian’ which was released in 1996.

Director Shankar and Kamal Haasan are teaming up for a film after a long time and the expectations have already skyrocketed.

Shooting for the movie was taking place in and around Rajasthan and it is said that the team will soon leave for South Africa to shoot some stunt sequences.

Kajal Agarwal plays the female lead, while the star cast also includes Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth and Bobby Simha among others.

Music for the movie is by Anirudh. The film is expected to be released in November.

Touted to be an action adventure, directed by Siva the film features Suriya and Disha Patani in the lead roles.

The movie is being made with a huge budget in 3D in 10 different languages.

The movie is tentatively titled ‘Suriya 42’. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in as the music composer of the movie.
