Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay used his first major public address after the party’s electoral victory to outline his government’s priorities, defend his political rise, and launch a sharp critique of both the DMK and AIADMK.

Addressing supporters at a rally in Tiruchirappalli on Monday, Vijay dismissed allegations that his party had secured power through political bargaining or defections. He maintained that TVK’s ascent was the result of public support and electoral mandate rather than any form of “horse trading.” The actor-turned-politician asserted that his government would function with transparency and remain accountable to the people who voted for change.

A significant portion of Vijay’s speech focused on issues related to governance and law and order. He accused the previous administration of failing to adequately address public safety concerns and argued that Tamil Nadu needed a stronger commitment to effective administration. According to Vijay, his government would prioritize maintaining order while ensuring that democratic rights and freedoms are protected.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of safeguarding the rights of states within India’s federal framework. He stated that his administration would not compromise on matters affecting Tamil Nadu’s interests and would firmly defend the state’s constitutional and administrative rights whenever necessary.

In his remarks, Vijay targeted both of Tamil Nadu’s traditional political rivals, the DMK and AIADMK, portraying TVK as a new political alternative. He argued that voters had chosen a different path and expressed confidence that his party could deliver on the expectations that accompanied its electoral victory.

The rally also drew attention for Vijay’s response to criticism over his appearance and attire. Referring to comments made about his choice of clothing, he suggested that political opponents were focusing on superficial issues instead of addressing the concerns of ordinary people. Vijay maintained that public service and governance should remain the focus of political discourse.
