Kadaisi  Vivasayi

– Review

Nallandi is the only farmer in his village. When the villagers decide to hold a festival after 15 years to appease angry deities, he is given the task of providing required amount of rice grain for the carnival.

Meanwhile, Nallandi is approached by a few people demanding him to sell his land. When Nallandi starts to cultivate in the land for the festival, he is arrested and is put behind the bars.

Why was he arrested, what happened next forms the rest of the story.

Director Manikandan’s authenticity of the plot is what makes the movie all the more appealing. The director has painstakingly depicted the step by step process in farming.

Nallandi has nailed the role and makes the audience feel the various emotions his character goes through. His natural way of responding in the Court scenes are commendable. It is very unfortunate that he is no more now.

Vijay Sethupathi does his part well and does not overshadow or steal any key moment from rest of the cast. Yogi Babu has also performed well. With most of the cast members being actual villagers there is nativity in the proceedings.

The movie is technically sound as well. Manikandan who has handled the camera has done a terrific job with some mind blowing visuals. Santhosh Narayanan’s music creates the much needed impact for the proceedings.
