Some distributors of superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ have alleged that they have faced losses due to the film and demanded compensation from Lyca Productions and the actor.
However, theatre owners and other distributors said they have earned profits from the movie. Rajini fans have alleged that the protesting distributors are working with ulterior motive to tarnish the image of the superstar and also to make money.
Maharaja Multiplex Erode tweeted: “#Darbar had an unexpected dream run. Yesterday was the last screening of #Darbar in our property (22 days). As we mentioned earlier, It had easily surpassed #Bigil, #Viswasam & #Petta our previous best records.”
LMR Multiplex Theatres in Namakkal posted: “Stop kidding , #Darbar movie is most Profitable movie , there is no chances to loss for distributors ,Kindly Don’t believe rumours ! #Darbar – #Blockbuster !!”
Jayamaruthi Cinemas in Gobi wrote: “Some media outlets are projecting #Darbar as a loss venture, but for us #Darbar was a good success! #Thalaivar as always is a minimum guarantee actor who pulls in massive crowds into the auditorium for his name,and Darbar wasn’t anything different. #DARBARUnstoppableBlockbuster”
Sri Balaji Cinemas in Ambasamudram stated: “Dear Folks, Some medias are projecting #Darbar movie is loss for Distributors & theatres don’t believe that. Darbar was a Big Success for us. Finally, it’s for rumours creators pls noted it down or open your ear drum. Darbar crossed #Petta records. Idhu podhuma ila venuma.”
Arora Talkies in Mumbai said, “#Darbar movie is most Profitable tamil movie in #Mumbai, distributors are very happy so don’t believe rumours ! #Darbar – #Blockbuster ”
