Director Sanjeev Megoti has claimed that actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar did not fulfil certain promotional commitments for his upcoming film ‘Police Complaint’. Speaking at the movie’s pre-release event in Hyderabad, he alleged that the actress had agreed to participate in publicity activities but was not available when the team sought her involvement.
Megoti said the production team had repeatedly requested a small amount of time from Varalaxmi for promotional events but did not receive the cooperation they expected. According to him, the absence of the actress during the promotional phase affected the film’s marketing efforts and caused difficulties for the team.
He also alleged that there were occasions during production when she was unavailable for dubbing-related work, which he said created additional challenges.
Responding to the allegations, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar denied that she had failed to support the film. She said she attended all events and activities for which she had been invited.
Regarding the remarks made at the pre-release function, the actress stated that she was not fully aware of what had been said and therefore did not wish to comment on the matter in detail at this stage. She added that she had her own reasons for her decisions and was not interested in engaging in a public dispute with the film’s team.
