A group of youth affilliated to Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party allegedly attacked director Ram Gopal Varma’s studio in Jubilee Hills on Thursday, demanding that the filmmaker stop the release of his upcoming film ‘Power Star’.

K Srinivasa Rao, ACP, Banjara Hills, said, “Acting on a complaint registered by Ram Gopal Varma, we took seven members into preventive custody. They are student leaders from Osmania University and belong to the Jana Sena Party.”

RGV tweeted: “PK fans claiming to be janasena members attacked my office and they have been thrown out into the lockup by my guards and Cops.”

However, the police denied attack. “There was no attack. These students had only gone to protest against his upcoming film on Pawan Kalyan. No physical harm was done to anybody and no property was damaged. We are examining CCTV footage and speaking to eye-witnesses and will take appropriate action if necessary,” ACP Rao said.

Defending his film, Ram Gopal Varma said that hat people are taking a simple fictional parody too much to heart.
