ARANMANAI 2
‘Aranmanai 2’ is a 2016 comedy horror film written and directed by Sundar C The film stars Sundar C himself, Siddharth, Trisha, Hansika Motwani, Poonam Bajwa, Soori, Kovai Sarala and Manobala. As the second installment in the ‘Aranmanai’ film series, the film released on 29 January 2016.
The project’s progress was first officially revealed after Trisha had tweeted her involvement in the sequel and revealed that she would feature alongside Siddharth in the leading roles. Hansika Motwani subsequently also announced that she would work in ‘Aranmanai 2’.
Poonam Bajwa was later selected for A role. Soori was selected as a comedian replacing Santhanam who was part of first film. Kovai Sarala and Aadukalam Naren were also added to the cast to portray supporting roles. The team began the first schedule in mid-June 2015.
NAYAKI
‘Nayaki’ is a 2016 Telugu-Tamil bilingual comedy horror film, directed by Goverdhan Reddy. The film stars Trisha in the lead role, with Ganesh Venkatraman, Satyam Rajesh and Sushma Raj in supporting roles.
The film is produced by Giridhar Mamidipally, who was the former manager of Trisha under Giridhar Production House, and has cinematography by Jagadeesh. Both versions of the film opened to mixed reviews in mid-2016 and had an above average box office.
The film was later dubbed into Hindi under the same name for television release on Zee Cinema on 16 April 2018.
MOHINI
‘Mohini’ is a 2018 supernatural horror comedy film written and directed by Ramana Madhesh, starring Trisha and Jackky Bhagnani in the lead roles. The film, which was predominantly shot across London, began production in June 2016.
The movie was released on 27 July 2018. Vaishnavi (Trisha) is a very popular YouTube chef living in India. Her friend Ambujam’s (Gayatri Rema) fiancé Cotton (Yogi Babu) is stuck in a situation that demands him to go to London to work as a chef, but he is unqualified.
He asks Vaishnavi to accompany him to pose as an assistant and help him secure the job so that he can be financially stable. Vaishnavi agrees and travels to London with Cotton and a relative Balki (Swaminathan). They stay with their friends Ganesh (Ganeshkar) and his wife Madhu (Jangiri Madhumitha) and work as chefs a restaurant. What happens then forms the crux.
MAYA
‘Maya’ is a 2015 Indian Tamil language neo noir horror film written and directed by Ashwin Saravanan. It features Nayanthara starring her 50th film and Aari in the lead.
Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli and Amzath Khan were in supporting roles. It was one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2015. A dubbed Telugu version, ‘Mayuri’, was also released.
‘Maya’ was produced by Potential Studios. The film was remade in Kannada as ‘Aake’ by K M Chaitanya, starring Chiranjeevi Sarja.
DORA
‘Dora’ is a 2017 action horror film directed by Doss Ramasamy and produced by A Sarkunam. It features Nayanthara in the lead role, with actors Thambi Ramaiah, Harish Uthaman and Sulile Kumar in secondary roles.
The film’s production began in March 2016 and principal photography commenced in June 2016, with Dinesh Krishnan working as the cinematographer. The film was released on 31 March 2017.
AIRAA
‘Airaa’ is a 2019 horror film written and directed by K M Sarjun. The film stars Nayanthara, Kalaiyarasan and Yogi Babu in the main lead roles. The film is produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh under the production banner KJR Studios.
Nayanthara played a dual role in a film for the second time after ‘Maya’. The movie starts off with Yamuna (Nayanthara), who is a journalist. Not interested in marriage, she goes to her grandmother Parvathy’s (Kulappulli Leela) house in the rural area of Tamil Nadu. Her grandmother, despite being blind, has a sharper vision than some normal people. Yamuna’s pitches are mostly inspired by her grandmother.
