The classic Tamil film ‘Thiruvilaiyaadal’, released in 1965, is set to return to theatres with a renewed visual experience through digital technology.
Directed by Arutselvar A.P. Nagarajan, and featuring outstanding performances by leading artistes including Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan, Thiruvilaiyaadal stands as one of the significant works of Tamil cinema. Based on the *Thiruvilaiyaadal Puranam*, the film revolves around the various divine plays of Lord Shiva.
Even in 1965, Thiruvilaiyaadal was made with a combination of story, dialogues, performances and music, along with modern technological techniques suited to that period. With its compelling storytelling, strong characters, outstanding performances, music and songs, the film has earned a lasting place in the hearts of audiences.
Even after several decades, the quality and uniqueness of the film remain undiminished, and Thiruvilaiyaadal continues to be a work cherished and enjoyed by audiences across generations. A film that has remained firmly rooted in the hearts of viewers to such an extent that its greatness cannot be understated, Thiruvilaiyaadal is celebrated as one of the notable cinematic treasures of Tamil cinema.
Now, Thiruvilaiyaadal has been digitally restored and is returning to theatres with enhanced picture and sound quality. The digital restoration has been carried out while preserving the original essence of the classic film, enabling today’s audiences to experience it on the big screen with improved technological quality.
Ahead of Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan’s 99th birth anniversary, the trailer launch event of Thiruvilaiyaadal was held on October 1 at Casino Theatre in Chennai.
The event was attended by several members of the film industry and individuals associated with the film, including A.N. Paramasivam, son of producer A.P. Nagarajan, actor and producer Chithra Lakshmanan, actors Y.G. Mahendran and Ilavarasu, actress Vadivukkarasi, actor and director Annadurai Kannadasan, writer and director Boopathy Raja, Dr. Maruthu Mohan, among others.
The artistes and special guests who attended the event shared their views and memories about the making of Thiruvilaiyaadal, the directorial excellence of Arutselvar A.P. Nagarajan, the performance of Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan, and the contributions of various artistes who worked on the film.
The collective efforts of artistes who made significant contributions across various departments, including story, screenplay, dialogues, direction, acting, music and songs, were a key reason for the uniqueness of Thiruvilaiyaadal. In particular, K.V. Mahadevan’s music and the songs penned by poet Kannadasan further elevated the film’s appeal.
This re-release is being undertaken with the aim of bringing the distinctive features of the film, which was created with remarkable craftsmanship and technological approach during its time, to today’s generation as well. Through this, older-generation audiences will have the opportunity to experience once again on the big screen a film they cherished, while the new generation will have the opportunity to discover and enjoy an important work of Tamil cinema through the theatrical experience.
With the aim of bringing to today’s generation the way the film was made and its technological excellence during that period, Thiruvilaiyaadal is being re-released in theatres. *The re-release activities are being undertaken by G. Latha on behalf of Sri Bala Vinayagar Pictures, with P.V. Murali serving as the Film Release Coordinator.

1965ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளியான பழம்பெரும் தமிழ் திரைப்படமான ‘திருவிளையாடல்’, டிஜிட்டல் தொழில்நுட்பத்தில் புதுப்பொலிவுடன் மீண்டும் திரையரங்குகளில் வெளியாகிறது.*
அருட்செல்வர் ஏ.பி. நாகராஜன் இயக்கத்தில்,நடிகர் திலகம் சிவாஜி கணேசன் உள்ளிட்ட முன்னணி கலைஞர்களின் சிறப்பான நடிப்பில் உருவான திருவிளையாடல், தமிழ் சினிமாவின் முக்கியமான படைப்புகளில் ஒன்றாகத் திகழ்கிறது. திருவிளையாடற் புராணத்தை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்ட இப்படம், சிவபெருமானின் பல்வேறு திருவிளையாடல்களை மையமாகக் கொண்டு உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.
1965ஆம் ஆண்டிலேயே கதை, வசனம், நடிப்பு, இசை ஆகியவற்றுடன், அக்காலத்திற்கேற்ற நவீன தொழில்நுட்பங்களையும் திறமையாகப் பயன்படுத்தி உருவாக்கப்பட்ட திரைப்படம் திருவிளையாடல். சிறப்பான கதை சொல்லல், வலுவான கதாபாத்திரங்கள், சிறந்த நடிப்பு, இசை மற்றும் பாடல்கள் என பல்வேறு அம்சங்களால் இப்படம் ரசிகர்களின் மனதில் நீங்கா இடம்பிடித்துள்ளது.
பல ஆண்டுகள் கடந்தும் இப்படத்தின் தரமும் தனித்துவமும் குறையாமல், இன்றளவும் பல தலைமுறையினராலும் விரும்பி ரசிக்கப்படும் படைப்பாக *திருவிளையாடல்* திகழ்கிறது. அதன் சிறப்பை குறைத்து மதிப்பிடுவதற்கே இடமில்லாத அளவிற்கு ரசிகர்களின் மனதில் நிலைத்திருக்கும் இப்படம், தமிழ் சினிமாவின் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க திரைச்செல்வங்களில் ஒன்றாகப் போற்றப்படுகிறது.
தற்போது திருவிளையாடல் திரைப்படம் டிஜிட்டல் முறையில் புதுப்பிக்கப்பட்டு, மேம்படுத்தப்பட்ட காட்சி மற்றும் ஒலி தரத்துடன் மீண்டும் திரையரங்குகளுக்கு வருகிறது. பழம்பெரும் திரைப்படத்தின் அசல் தன்மையைப் பாதுகாத்தபடி, இன்றைய பார்வையாளர்கள் பெரிய திரையில் சிறந்த தொழில்நுட்பத் தரத்துடன் அனுபவிக்கும் வகையில் இந்த டிஜிட்டல் புதுப்பிப்பு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது.
நடிகர் திலகம் சிவாஜி கணேசனின் 99-வது பிறந்தநாளை முன்னிட்டு, அக்டோபர் 1-ஆம் தேதி சென்னை காசினோ திரையரங்கில், திருவிளையாடல் திரைப்படத்தின் டிரெய்லர் வெளியீட்டு நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது.
இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் தயாரிப்பாளர் ஏ.பி. நாகராஜனின் மகன் ஏ.என். பரமசிவம், நடிகரும் தயாரிப்பாளருமான சித்ரா லட்சுமணன், நடிகர்கள் ஒய்.ஜி. மகேந்திரன், இளவரசு, நடிகை வடிவுக்கரசி, நடிகரும் இயக்குநருமான அண்ணாதுரை கண்ணதாசன், கதாசிரியரும் இயக்குநருமான பூபதி ராஜா, முனைவர் மருது மோகன் உள்ளிட்ட திரையுலகைச் சேர்ந்த பலரும், படத்துடன் தொடர்புடையவர்களும் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

அக்காலத்திலேயே சிறப்பான உருவாக்கம் மற்றும் தொழில்நுட்ப அணுகுமுறையுடன் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட இப்படத்தின் தனிச்சிறப்புகளை இன்றைய தலைமுறையினருக்கும் கொண்டு சேர்க்கும் நோக்கத்துடன் இந்த மறுவெளியீடு மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகிறது. இதன் மூலம் பழைய தலைமுறை ரசிகர்கள் தாங்கள் ரசித்த படைப்பை மீண்டும் பெரிய திரையில் அனுபவிக்கவும், புதிய தலைமுறையினர் தமிழ் சினிமாவின் முக்கியமான ஒரு படைப்பை திரையரங்க அனுபவத்துடன் அறிந்து ரசிக்கவும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கிறது.
