Rukmini Vasanth is joining hands with director Shree Karthick for a new Tamil film, with the makers introducing her character, Thara, through a recently released announcement video.
The yet-to-be-titled production also stars Dev Ramnath and Vinayak Vaithianathan. The promotional clip features the three filmmakers and actors discussing the character before a notification reveals Rukmini’s involvement in the project.
The collaboration brings together Rukmini and Karthick for the first time. The director previously made his debut with ‘Kanam’, a time-travel drama that centred on the relationship between a mother and her son.
The new film is being jointly produced by Madboys Entertainment and Siruni Cine Corporation, with Saikrishna Gadwal attached as co-producer. Further details, including the official title, are expected to be announced soon.
Rukmini has gained recognition for her performances in ‘Sapta Sagaradaache Ello’ and ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. Her addition to the project has generated interest as the team gradually reveals information about the film.
Madboys Entertainment, established by Dev Ramnath and Shree Karthick, has previously been involved in the Tamil web series ‘I Hate You – I Love You’ and the award-winning short film ‘Childhood Diaries’. The production house is now broadening its activities in feature filmmaking.
Siruni Cine Corporation, associated with producer Jaswanth, has backed films such as ‘Chi La Sow’, directed by Rahul Ravindran. The film received the National Film Award for Best Original Screenplay. Saikrishna Gadwal’s previous associations include ‘Keedaa Cola’ and ‘Kaantha’.
The makers have also adopted an unconventional promotional strategy by chronicling the project’s journey through an Instagram-exclusive docu-drama. Nine episodes have been released so far, combining real experiences with dramatized sequences before culminating in the reveal of Rukmini as Thara. The film’s title and additional production details are expected to emerge in the near future.
