Soori’s ‘Mandaadi’ has been generating positive attention for its coastal setting, performances and action-heavy sequences.
Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, the film marks an important milestone for the filmmaker, who previously worked as an assistant to director Vetri Maaran. The cast features Soori, Suhas, Mahima Nambiar and Sathyaraj in prominent roles.
The story is centred on a boat-racing competition and follows members of a coastal community whose personal conflicts become intertwined with the sporting event. Soori and Suhas portray teammates whose relationship breaks down after a disagreement before circumstances bring them together again.
Sathyaraj appears in a flashback portion, while the supporting cast includes Mithun Jai Sankar, Ravindravjay, Bala Saravanan and Stun Siva.
Following Superstar Rajinikanth’s appreciation, Vetri Maaran has congratulated the team, highlighting the extensive effort that went into making the film. He also pointed to the response from audiences outside Tamil-speaking regions, particularly in Telugu-speaking areas.
The filmmaker praised Soori, director Mathimaran Pugazhendhi and producer Elred Kumar for taking on a challenging subject and executing it with commitment.
The technical team includes GV Prakash for music, SR Kathir as cinematographer, Pradeep E Ragav as editor and DRK Kiran as production designer. Action sequences were designed by Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbarayan and Mahesh Mathew. The climax, featuring a large-scale boat race, has emerged as one of the film’s notable visual elements.
