In a pre-emptive move against piracy, the Madras High Court has issued an interim injunction restraining 36 internet service providers (ISPs) across India from allowing “rogue websites” to stream pirated versions of the upcoming Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer, ‘Coolie’. The order was issued just days before the film’s scheduled release on August 14, 2025.
The production house, Sun TV Network Limited, filed a civil suit to protect its copyright, citing the “irreparable injury” that piracy would cause.
Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy, who issued the order, directed ISPs to block not only existing piracy-linked sites but also any future sites that might emerge.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie boasts a star-studded cast and has already generated immense excitement and record-breaking pre-release bookings.
