Actress and model Meera Mithun has been admitted to a mental health institute in Delhi, according to information provided by the Chennai Police.
This development comes as the police were preparing to present her in court for a case related to controversial casteist remarks she made in 2021.
Mithun and her associate, Sam Abhishek, were arrested in 2021 by the Chennai Central Crime Branch under seven sections, including the Prevention of Atrocities Act.
After being released on bail, Mithun reportedly failed to appear for court proceedings and was in hiding in Delhi.
The court had issued an arrest warrant, leading to her being taken into custody by Delhi police.
