Kamal Haasan paid tribute to legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja on his birth anniversary, which comes a month after the director’s passing.
In a message shared on social media, the actor-politician reflected on their enduring friendship and said that although Bharathiraja was no longer present to celebrate the occasion, his films would continue to keep his legacy alive. He also expressed gratitude for the friendship they shared over the years.
Bharathiraja passed away on June 10 after battling prolonged health issues. His health had reportedly declined significantly following the death of his son, actor Manoj Bharathiraja, who suffered a cardiac arrest in March 2025.
During a filmmaking career spanning nearly five decades, Bharathiraja redefined Tamil cinema with several critically acclaimed films. He also introduced and inspired numerous actors and filmmakers.
Speaking at the filmmaker’s funeral, Kamal said Bharathiraja’s contributions to cinema and the memories of their friendship would continue to live on.
