Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is set to make his acting debut opposite Wamiqa Gabbi in the upcoming film ‘DC’. The makers have announced that the film’s release has been rescheduled after receiving an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), allowing it to steer clear of a clash with Vijay’s much-awaited ‘Jana Nayagan’.

Originally slated to release on July 31, 2026, ‘DC’ has been pushed back by a week following the confirmation that ‘Jana Nayagan’ will arrive in theatres on July 23.

The recently unveiled trailer reflects director Arun Matheswaran’s trademark filmmaking style, featuring striking black-and-white visuals, stylised action and an intense narrative tone.

In a similar move, actor and composer GV Prakash Kumar has postponed the release of his film ‘Immortal’. The film will now release on September 4, giving ‘Jana Nayagan’ an uninterrupted run during its opening weeks.

The announcement was welcomed by fans, many of whom praised GV Prakash for avoiding direct competition with one of the year’s biggest releases. Along with confirming the new release date, he extended his best wishes to Vijay and the entire ‘Jana Nayagan’ team, a gesture that received appreciation across social media.

The makers of ‘Immortal’ believe the revised release window will help the film reach a wider audience without competing against a major commercial release.
