Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will launch the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government’s statewide ration card distribution programme from Perambur on Monday, choosing the constituency he represents to inaugurate one of the administration’s key welfare initiatives.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to distribute the first 10 ration cards to eligible beneficiaries, officially marking the commencement of the scheme across Tamil Nadu.

The visit will also be Vijay’s first official programme in Perambur after assuming office as Chief Minister. He had secured victories in both Perambur and Tiruchy East during the Assembly election before deciding to retain Perambur and resign from the Tiruchy East seat.

Apart from launching the welfare programme, Vijay will unveil a revamped digital service platform for the Perambur MLA office, enabling residents to access government certificates and citizen services. He will also introduce a dedicated mobile application designed to strengthen grievance redressal and improve access to constituency-related services.

His itinerary includes an inspection of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus depot in Perambur, where he is expected to assess infrastructure and commuter facilities. The Chief Minister will later interact with local residents and participate in welfare-related activities.

Police have stepped up security arrangements ahead of the visit, carrying out convoy rehearsals and implementing traffic management measures around the programme venue.
