The Tamil Nadu government has announced that Chief Minister Vijay will lead the official birth centenary celebrations of legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan in 2028.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, coinciding with the veteran actor’s 25th death anniversary. State Minister for Film Technology and Cinematograph Act, Rajmohan, paid floral tributes at Sivaji Ganesan’s memorial in Adyar, where members of the actor’s family, including Prabhu and filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran, were also present.
Speaking to reporters, Prabhu said the Chief Minister had personally conveyed his commitment to ensuring the celebrations are organised in a grand manner. He added that the family was pleased with the government’s decision to commemorate the milestone.
Sivaji Ganesan’s birth centenary falls on October 1, 2028. According to the minister, preliminary planning for the commemorative events has already begun. He said the state considers it its responsibility to honour one of Tamil cinema’s greatest icons, whose contribution to the industry continues to inspire generations.
