Bigg Boss Tamil 10 has introduced a major change to its eviction format, giving contestants the power to decide who leaves the house instead of relying solely on audience votes.
Bengaluru-based Savinya Velu became the first housemate to face this unexpected exit on the JioHotstar reality show, hosted by Vijay Sethupathi. Despite being voted out by her fellow contestants, Savinya walked out confidently and said she chose not to let her emotions show.
Recalling her entry into the show, Savinya said hearing the Bigg Boss announcement that she had been selected initially made her nervous. Her exit, however, brought a very different feeling.
According to Savinya, the decision felt like a betrayal by the other contestants, but she deliberately left with a smile rather than allowing the disappointment to overwhelm her.
The actor, who has built a sizeable following on Instagram, said she was comfortable with the other housemates during the initial days. Over time, however, she felt that the personalities people initially presented began to change.
Savinya said she does not believe in altering her personality simply to gain acceptance. She pointed out that she had received a positive response from viewers when she appeared on the opening day and believes remaining genuine is more important than trying to please everyone.
The former contestant also reflected on the concept of people hiding their real personalities inside the Bigg Boss house. If given another opportunity to enter the show, she said she would be more careful about the people she chose to associate with.
Her eviction attracted considerable attention online, with viewers questioning whether contestants should have the power to decide another housemate’s fate. Savinya’s farewell speech, in which she addressed the other contestants, also became a talking point among viewers.
The unexpected exit had financial consequences for her as well. Savinya revealed that she had spent considerably on clothes and other preparations because she had expected to remain in the house for a longer period.
Despite the abrupt end to her stint, she said she was encouraged by the response from viewers. According to her, some people initially formed opinions about her based on only a few days of footage but changed their perspective after watching the weekend episode.
Savinya said comments from viewers expressing support and questioning why fellow contestants should have the final say in her eviction made her feel that she had found an audience of her own.
She remains hopeful about returning to the show as a wildcard contestant and believes another opportunity inside the Bigg Boss house could be possible.
