Chiranjeevi completes 48 years in cinema, looks back on journey filled with gratitude
Megastar Chiranjeevi has marked 48 years in the film industry with an emotional message recalling the journey that began with his first theatrical release, ‘Pranam Khareedu’.
The actor took to X to reflect on nearly five decades in cinema and thank the filmmakers, producers, co-stars, technicians and fans who have been part of his career.
September 22 holds special significance for Chiranjeevi. ‘Pranam Khareedu’, directed by K Vasu, was released on the same date in 1978 and marked his first film to reach theatres. Although ‘Punadi Rallu’ was the first film he shot, ‘Pranam Khareedu’ arrived in cinemas earlier. Chiranjeevi played the character Narasimha in the film.
Looking back at his career, Chiranjeevi recalled the many characters he has portrayed, the successes he has experienced and the awards and honours he has received over the years.
He expressed his appreciation to producers who placed their trust in him, directors who gave him opportunities to explore different sides of his acting and the actors and technicians whose efforts helped shape every project.
While acknowledging these professional achievements, Chiranjeevi said the affection he has received from his fans remains particularly meaningful to him.
He thanked generations of admirers for treating him like a member of their own families and for giving him a special place in their hearts.
The actor also reflected on the name that eventually became synonymous with his career. Born Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, he adopted the screen name Chiranjeevi during the early stage of his acting journey.
Looking back at the date when he took on that name, the actor said the identity has endured because of the affection and support he has received from audiences.
As he completes 48 years in cinema, Chiranjeevi’s message served as both a tribute to the people who shaped his career and a thank-you note to the fans who have remained with him throughout his long journey.
