Director Ashwath Marimuthu has shared his thoughts on working with Superstar Rajinikanth in ‘Dharman’, describing the top actor as both humble and supportive during the making of the film.
Speaking at an awards function, Ashwath said his experience with Rajinikanth matched the praise he had previously heard from filmmakers Lokesh Kanagaraj and Nelson. He particularly admired the actor’s respect for directors and his conduct on the sets.
Ashwath admitted that he initially felt nervous about directing Rajinikanth, especially after having worked mainly with actors from his own generation. He said Rajinikanth helped him overcome that hesitation and that their professional relationship soon developed into a close friendship.
The director views Dharman as a major responsibility rather than simply a career opportunity. With Rajinikanth in the lead and Kamal Haasan backing the production, Ashwath said he feels responsible for delivering a film that lives up to the expectations surrounding it while giving the story his own contemporary touch.
He also provided an update on his upcoming schedules. Shooting for Dharman is expected to conclude in October. His next film, which reunites him with Silambarasan TR, is planned to begin production in February 2027 after the actor completes Arasan.
‘Dharman’ also features Simran and Raashi Khanna in important roles. There has been speculation about Ram Pothineni appearing as the antagonist and Shriya Saran potentially making a special appearance.
