Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is set to document his remarkable musical journey in a new autobiography titled ‘Rahman: A Renaissance’.

Rahman announced the book on social media, revealing that he will co-author it with Rupa Chakravarty. The book is expected to explore several aspects of his life and career, including his creative process, musical influences, challenges and ideas that have shaped his work.

Describing the project as a new chapter, Rahman said the book would offer readers a closer look at the experiences and creative journey behind his music. He also indicated that more details about the publication would be revealed later.

Rahman’s journey in cinema began with his work alongside several established composers, including Ilaiyaraaja. He made his major debut as an independent film composer with Mani Ratnam’s ‘Roja’ in 1992.

The collaboration with Mani Ratnam went on to become one of the most significant associations of his career, with the composer and filmmaker working together on several acclaimed projects over the years.

Rahman has since become one of India’s most internationally recognised composers. His achievements include multiple National Film Awards and major international honours such as Grammys, a Golden Globe and two Academy Awards for his work on ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. His upcoming autobiography is expected to offer fans a more personal insight into the journey behind those milestones.
