Actor Anupama Parameswaran has offered a deeper look into a past relationship, explaining why she chose to step back when conversations about engagement and marriage moved ahead at an unusually fast pace.
Speaking to Dhanya Varma, Anupama said she had been in the relationship for around two years, but discussions about marriage began within just a few months. She recalled being introduced to family members early on and said engagement plans were already being discussed within three months.
The actor said a strong inner feeling eventually made her reconsider the decision. She felt that the relationship was moving towards marriage too quickly and feared that what appeared to be affection could actually have been an attempt to control her choices.
Addressing those who had accused her of being motivated by money, Anupama said she was actually the person who stopped the engagement from going ahead. She explained that she believed marrying at that point could have resulted in an unhappy marriage and possibly divorce.
Anupama also said she did not want concerns about having children to force her into making a rushed decision. According to her, she had suggested taking more time and considering options such as freezing eggs if children were a concern.
The actor described the relationship as one in which she often felt anxious rather than secure. She said her decision to postpone the engagement was ultimately driven by the feeling that something was not right.
Anupama has not disclosed the identity of the person she was referring to. She has previously spoken on social media about recovering from what she described as a controlling relationship.
Her personal life had earlier become the subject of speculation after rumours linked her with Dhruv Vikram. The speculation intensified after the two were seen together at public events following their work in ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’. Anupama has not confirmed those dating rumours. She had also previously claimed that she needed permission to promote ‘Dragon’ and to post on social media during the relationship. Anupama’s next release is ‘Crazy Kalyanam’, which is scheduled to hit screens on August 19.
