‘Idupu Kayitham’: Naga Durga opens up about her debut as a Telugu heroine

Priyadarshi and Naga Durga are set to headline the upcoming Telugu film ‘Idupu Kayitham’, a story rooted in Telangana.

The project is produced by Bunny Vas and Sukumar under Bunny Vas Works and Sukumar Writings, respectively. Vamsi Reddy Dondapati is making his directorial debut, while Suresh Bobbili is composing the music.

The makers recently released the song ‘Gadapa’ and confirmed that the film will arrive in theatres on December 11.

For Naga Durga, the movie marks her first major outing as a female lead in Telugu cinema.

Speaking about her experience, the actress said the film has been a memorable journey and expressed happiness over the response to ‘Gadapa’.

She revealed that memories of her mother’s advice about married life helped her connect with the character of Srilatha, particularly while performing scenes involving family relationships.

Naga Durga described Srilatha as a relatable woman whose experiences could resonate with audiences across different regions and backgrounds.

The actress also shared that her father was moved by her performance after watching the song’s promotional video and praised her acting.

She said she worked extensively to transform herself into Srilatha and hopes viewers will recognise the effort she put into bringing the character to life. Meanwhile, Priyadarshi addressed the online discussion surrounding the film’s unusual title.

The actor revealed that some social media users had questioned the name ‘Idupu Kayitham’, with a few suggesting that the film might require subtitles or dubbing to reach Telugu audiences. The team is now looking forward to the film’s theatrical release and audience response.
