Actor Arya has been named in a criminal case registered by the Jubilee Hills police in Hyderabad following allegations that payment for equipment hired during the production of the Malayalam film ‘Ananthan Kaadu’ remains outstanding.
The complaint was lodged by Hyderabad-based Taher Cine Techniques, which supplied cameras and lighting equipment for the film. According to the company, the equipment was hired under an agreement signed in February 2025 and transported from Hyderabad to shooting locations in Kerala.
The complainants alleged that the production incurred rental charges amounting to approximately Rs 2.12 crore, of which more than Rs 1.80 crore has allegedly not been paid despite repeated reminders.
In the complaint, the company’s accountant, Javed Ali, stated that the production team had agreed to settle all pending dues before the film’s release and obtain a no-objection certificate from the equipment supplier. The company further alleged that its attempts to recover the payment through phone calls and messages did not receive a response.
The complaint also alleges that Arya, producer Vinod Sadaru and Arya’s personal assistant, Kishore, intimidated the company’s manager when he sought payment. It further claims that interim relief was obtained from a Kerala court without placing all relevant facts before the court.
Based on the allegations, the Jubilee Hills police have registered a case against Arya, Vinod Sadaru and Kishore under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have begun an investigation into the matter.
