“Madharasi”

– Review

The film’s plot centers on an unyielding police officer tracking an aggressive gun-smuggling syndicate in Tamil Nadu. Simultaneously, an ordinary man (Sivakarthikeyan) finds himself unwillingly drawn into this criminal underworld when his lover (Rukmini Vasanth) becomes a pawn in the gang’s game.

As he fights to save her, the audience discovers a hidden psychological layer to his character: a fractured mind that can erupt into a violent psychosis when pushed to its limits.

This inner conflict between his calm demeanor and a dark, violent side forms the core of the movie’s psychological tension.

Director A.R. Murugadoss returns to his classic action-thriller style, reminiscent of his earlier hits like Thuppakki. The screenplay is engaging, particularly in the first half and a standout intermission sequence.
The action choreography is a major highlight, with well-executed hand-to-hand combat scenes that avoid being overly theatrical.

Sivakarthikeyan, known for his comedic and romantic roles, delivers a commendable performance in a full-fledged action avatar.

He convincingly portrays both the emotional vulnerability and the explosive, violent side of his character.

Co-star Rukmini Vasanth has a crucial role, and her performance is noted to be strong, though the romantic portions of the film felt stretched.

Vidyut Jammwal and Biju Menon also deliver solid performances, adding to the film’s strong cast.

Anirudh Ravichander’s background score is power packed and energetic.

Sudeep Elamon’s camerawork is a major highlight and contributes to the overall cinematic experience.

Rest of the technical aspects of the movie are appreciable as well.

Rating: 3.9/5
