Photographs circulating online that appear to show Nayanthara with her head shaved are edited images, rather than genuine pictures from the actress’ visit to Tirupati.
Nayanthara had visited the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati with her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, earlier this year. Images from that visit show that her head was not shaved. The viral versions have been digitally modified to create the appearance that she had tonsured her head.
The altered photographs have been shared online with claims linking the alleged look to the release of ‘Toxic’. However, the original photographs contradict those claims. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have not issued a formal statement regarding the manipulated images.
The couple had visited Tirupati Lord Sri Venkateswara temple ahead of the release of Vignesh Shivan’s ‘Love Insurance Kompany’, which featured Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead. The film reportedly collected around Rs 60 crore at the box office against a reported budget of approximately Rs 100 crore.
Vignesh Shivan had defended the film after it received criticism online, maintaining that the movie attempted to offer a different and original Tamil cinema experience.
Nayanthara’s next major release is ‘Toxic’, which is scheduled to hit theatres on August 26. The Yash-starrer also features Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. Her upcoming projects also include ‘Hi’, which stars Kavin and is directed by Vishnu Edavan.
