Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has joined hands with Sony Vizha for ‘Tamil Idol’, a new reality show designed to identify promising singers from across Tamil Nadu.
Produced by Fremantle India, the programme will be telecast on Sony Vizha and made available digitally through Sony LIV. The show is being positioned as a platform for emerging Tamil voices, with Rahman leading the talent search.
Auditions are set to begin, and Rahman has encouraged aspiring singers from Tamil Nadu to register through the Sony LIV application.
The composer said the discovery of new voices has always been an important part of music. He noted that a talent hunt can bring forward not only fresh singers but also different perspectives and personal stories.
With ‘Tamil Idol’, the makers hope to provide talented performers with an opportunity to gain recognition and develop their careers under the guidance of an experienced music personality.
