“Leader” Movie Review by Naveen

Ordinary man’s extraordinary fight

“Leader”

Movie  Review

The story follows an ordinary man Legend Saravanan, who finds himself unintentionally caught in the crossfire of a violent conflict between a powerful underworld syndicate and a specialised police task force.
While he initially seeks only to survive, a personal tragedy—threatening his family and specifically his young daughter Iyal—forces him to evolve.
The narrative tracks his transformation from a bystander into a strategic ‘Leader’ who must outsmart both the law and the lawless to protect his loved ones.
Director R.S. Durai Senthilkumar brings his signature flair for “commercial-with-substance” storytelling. After the massive success of Garudan, he applies a similar gritty-yet-stylish treatment to ‘Leader’.
His execution of the action sequences is top-tier, utilizing high-speed cameras and international-grade choreography.
While the plot follows a familiar “common man vs. the system” trope, the director infuses it with enough twists and emotional weight, particularly in the father-daughter segments, to keep the audience invested throughout the 151-minute runtime.
Displaying a visible physical transformation and improved screen presence, Saravanan handles the “mass” moments with much more confidence than his debut.
He shines in the high-octane stunt sequences, and his dialogue delivery has a new-found intensity that fits the “Leader” persona.
Playing the female lead, Payal Rajput brings a glamorous yet grounded presence to the film, sharing a decent chemistry with Saravanan.
Shaam and Andrea Jeremiah play pivotal roles that bridge the gap between the protagonist and the underworld, with Andrea delivering a particularly sharp performance.

Santhosh Prathap and Lal provide the necessary grit to the antagonist side, making the threat feel genuine.

VTV Ganesh and Aranthangi Nisha handle the lighter moments, providing organic humor that doesn’t distract from the main plot.

Ghibran’s background score is thunderous during the action blocks, while the father-daughter song has already become a viral hit for its emotional depth.
Cinematographer S. Venkatesh captures the film across varied locales—from the industrial vibes of Thoothukudi to the scenic beauty of Jaipur and even Georgia—giving the movie a truly “international” look.
