Even as superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ making record collections, it has emerged that the story of the film was inspired by that ofMumbai police officer YC Pawar, who fought against Vardha Bhai.
“தர்பார் படத்தின் கதை வேறொன்றுமில்லை வரதராஜ முதலியார் எனும் வர்தாபாயின் மும்பை சாம்ராஜியத்தை அசைத்து புடுங்கி போட்டவன் ஒய்.சி பவார் எனும் இளம் காவல்துறை அதிகாரி வரதராஜ முதலியாரின் தந்திரமும் அடாவடியும் அவனிடம் எடுபடவில்லை,” posted a Twitter user called Wolfrik.
It is to be noted that the story of Varadharaja Mudaliar was made as ‘Nayagan’ by Mani Ratnam, with Kamal Haasan playing the lead role. Meanwhile, ‘Darbar’ has shattered previous box-office collections of Kollywood, with reports claiming that the film has collected Rs 119 crore on its first day of release.
Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Prateik Babbar, Yogi Babu and Dalip Tahil played key roles in ‘Darbar’, directed by A R Murugadoss. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the film has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
In ‘Darbar’, Rajinikanth plays Aditya Arunasalam, who is the Commissioner of Police in Mumbai. The story is about how he successfully takes on an international don. Meanwhile, a controversial scene which had apparent reference to V K Sasikala has been removed from the movie.
