Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga has revealed why the upcoming Prabhas-starrer ‘Spirit’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is being produced primarily from Hyderabad.

Speaking at Honest Townhall, Pranay compared the production expenses involved in making ‘Animal’ in Mumbai with what he believes would have been possible in Hyderabad.

According to the producer, the cost of making the same film in Mumbai could have been around 20 to 30 percent higher. He said the experience of producing ‘Animal’ played a major role in the decision to base ‘Spirit’ in Hyderabad.

Pranay suggested that the difference could be substantial when working with the kind of large budgets involved in major productions. ‘Animal’ was reportedly made with a budget of around Rs 200 crore, meaning a 30 percent cost difference could potentially translate into approximately Rs 60 crore.

With ‘Spirit’ expected to be mounted on an even larger scale, controlling production costs has become an important consideration.

Pranay pointed to studio charges, limited space and the overall difficulty of arranging production facilities in Mumbai as some of the reasons behind the higher expenses.

He said Hyderabad offers greater flexibility when it comes to building sets and arranging the infrastructure required for large-scale shoots. He also highlighted the support available within the local filmmaking community.

‘Spirit’, starring Prabhas, is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects from Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Given its reported scale, the decision to produce the film from Hyderabad could help the makers manage resources more efficiently while mounting the project on a grand scale.
