Khushbu slams AI-morphed Janhvi Kapoor video: “Today, it is her. Tomorrow, it could be me”

Actor and politician Khushbu Sundar has strongly criticised the circulation of an AI-manipulated video featuring Janhvi Kapoor, calling the misuse of technology to digitally alter a woman’s appearance deeply disturbing.

The controversial clip reportedly uses visuals of Janhvi from the popular song ‘Chuttamalle’ from ‘Devara’. Its circulation has once again raised concerns over the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create manipulated content involving women without their consent.

Reacting to the issue on X, Khushbu said she could not remain silent while another woman was subjected to what she described as digital violation and humiliation.

She argued that such material should not be dismissed as harmless entertainment or allowed to become normalised online. According to her, creating and spreading digitally altered content can seriously affect a woman’s dignity, reputation and sense of security.

Khushbu also questioned the tendency of people to remain silent simply because they are not directly affected by such incidents.

She emphasised that the victim could be anyone, including a family member or someone close to us, and warned against treating digitally manipulated abuse as an issue concerning only celebrities.

The actor further called for legal action against people involved in creating, knowingly sharing, promoting or deliberately amplifying such material.

Her comments come amid growing concerns about the ability of generative AI tools to manipulate photographs and videos and the potential for such technology to be used to target women with humiliating or sexually suggestive fake content.

Khushbu’s intervention has added to the growing demand for stronger accountability and greater awareness around the misuse of AI-generated and digitally altered material.
