Renowned choreographer Sivasankar breathed his last at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
Sivasankar had contracted the Covid-19 virus following which he was getting treated in the private hospital.
It is said that his lungs were severely damaged. He is survived by his wife and sons – Ajay and Vijay.
Sivasankar was born in Chennai, in the year 1948. He began his choreography career in the Tamil film industry. However, he later went on to work in all Indian language films including Tamil and Telugu.
In 2011, he received the National Award for the song Dheera Dheera from Ram Charan’s ‘Magadheera’ directed by SS Rajamouli. He choreographed more than 800 songs.
As the news of his death emerged, many in the film industry took to social media to condole his death and share their tributes.
Shiva Sankar Master’s last rites will take place at Hyderabad’s Maha Prasthanam at 2pm today.
