Addressing a swarm of reporters outside his Poes Garden residence in Chennai, Superstar Rajinikanth directly broke his silence on the swirling media speculation regarding the state’s changing political landscape.
When questioned about malicious online rumors suggesting he harbored professional or personal jealousy following Vijay’s historic electoral triumph and subsequent swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the veteran actor flatly dismissed the narrative with a smile, asking, “Why should I be jealous?”

“Why would I be jealous of Vijay? Maybe if Kamal (Haasan) became the CM, I might get jealous,” he said in jest.

Rajinikanth said that he had congratulated Vijay as soon as the election results showed his party winning the polls, though he admitted he was surprised to see Vijay become the state’s CM in his first-ever election.

He also said that he was holding the press meeting because many criticisms were being made about him in connection with the election and that if he did not respond, they would be accepted as the truth.

“Rajini is not a cheap or low-standard person to speak unnecessarily about anything else,” he further said.

The actor is currently balancing these media updates with his tight filming schedule for director T.J. Gnanavel’s ‘Jailer 2’, which recently resumed production after brief delays.
