Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) founder Vijayakanth’s mortal remains will be laid to rest at the party headquarters in Chennai at 4.45 PM on Friday, said a release from the party.
‘Captain’ Vijayakanth, the former Opposition leader of Tamil Nadu, passed away due to pneumonia at a private hospital in Chennai on Thursday. He was 71.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin visited Vijayakanth’s residence to pay homage to the DMDK leader and said he would be laid to rest with full state honours.
Members of the film fraternity and political leaders are offering homage to the departed leader.
Meanwhile, actor Rajinikanth canceled his movie ‘Vettaiyan’ shoot in Nagercoil and returned to Chennai to pay his homage to Vijayakanth.
