In a candid revelation during a recent interview with Baradwaj Rangan, actor Vijay Sethupathi admitted that his journey as a producer has been financially taxing. He revealed that films backed by Vijay Sethupathi Productions resulted in loss.
The actor specifically mentioned that his first venture, ‘Sanguthevan’, was dropped mid-way, resulting in a loss of ₹1.75 crore. He followed this by backing unconventional films like ‘Orange Mittai’, ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’, ‘Junga’, and ‘Laabam’, none of which recovered their costs.
Despite the financial setbacks, Sethupathi stated he has zero regrets because he truly likes the stories he brought to life.
He is currently looking forward to his next production venture, the web series ‘Kaattan’, which is set to premiere on March 27, 2026.
