Director Venkat Prabhu has responded to the online discussion surrounding his previously announced project with Sivakarthikeyan, after remarks made by his father, filmmaker Gangai Amaran, resurfaced on social media.

Sivakarthikeyan’s next film, tentatively referred to as SK27, recently began production with Ramkumar Balakrishnan, who directed ‘Parking’, at the helm. Sathya Jyothi Films is backing the project.

The development has once again brought attention to the earlier film that Venkat Prabhu was expected to direct for the same actor and production house. That project ultimately did not proceed.

A recent video featuring Gangai Amaran discussing the delay began circulating online. In the interview, the veteran filmmaker said he had advised his son not to proceed with the project and referred to an actor without identifying him.

Social media users subsequently speculated that the remarks concerned Sivakarthikeyan. The discussions were further fuelled by references to pre-production activities that had reportedly taken place in the United States.

Venkat Prabhu has now sought to put the speculation to rest. In his clarification, he described Sivakarthikeyan as a close friend and said the delay had resulted from several reasons rather than any personal issue between the two.

The director also explained that he generally keeps his professional affairs private and does not discuss detailed aspects of his projects with others, including his father. He suggested that Gangai Amaran may not have been aware of the complete circumstances surrounding the project’s delay.

Venkat Prabhu further said he would be happy to collaborate with Sivakarthikeyan again if an appropriate story comes his way in the future. For now, the director has indicated that he wants to move past the controversy and concentrate on his upcoming projects.
