In the recent past most movies of actor Ajith had their names starting with the letter ‘V’ – ‘Veeram’, ‘Vedhalam’, ‘Vivegam’, ‘Viswasam’ and ‘Valimai’. It now seems that the ‘V’ fever has caught up with the rest of the Kollywood as upcoming movies of leading actors have ‘V’ as their starting letter. Let us take a look at some of the upcoming movies.
Veetla Vishesham:
Directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan, Veetla Vishesahm is the remake of the 2018 Hindi film ‘Badhaai Ho’. The film follows the life of Balaji, whose life becomes chaotic when his middle-aged parents announce that they are about to become parents yet again. The movie is now available on Zee 5.
Varisu:
Vijay’s upcoming flick with Vamshi Paidipally has been titled ‘Varisu’. The first look poster was launched on Vijay’s birthday in June. Shooting for the movie is going on at a swift pace and the flick is expected to be released on Pongal 2023. The last time a Vijay’s film had a ‘V’ title was in 2011 for the film ‘Velayudham’.
Vanangaan:
Almost after 18 years, Suriya has teamed up with Bala and the much awaited title for the movie was released recently. The movie has been titled ‘Vanangaan’. Shooting for the movie is taking place in Goa. Expectations are high on this film, especially after Suriya’s role as Rolex in ‘Vikram’. Prior to ‘Vikram’, Suriya’s last ‘V’ film was ‘Vel’ which was released in 2007.
Viruman:
Following the path of his elder brother, Karthi’s upcoming film with director Muthiah has been titled ‘Viruman’. The movie has director Shankar’s daughter making her debut in the film industry. This is Karthi’s first film with ‘V’ title.
Vaathi:
Dhanush has teamed up with Venky Atluri for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The movie has been titled ‘Vaathi’ in Tamil. According to reports Dhanush plays a teacher in the movie and hence the makers have kept this title. Dhanush has quite a number of movies with the title ‘V’ which includes ‘Venghai’, ‘VIP’, ‘VIP 2’ and ‘Vada Chennai’.
Venthu Thanindhadhu Kaadu:
‘Venthu Thanindhadhu Kaadu’ is the third film in the combination of Gautham Menon and Simbhu. The movie is slated to be released on 15 September. The duo had first teamed up for the movie ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya’ which was a blockbuster hit. Simbhu’s last ‘V’ movie was ‘Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven’.
Vikram:
It will be unfair to end this article without the mentioning of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’. Incidentally, the movie also completes 50 days of its release today. Even after the movie is released in OTT, it is still going strong in a few theatres where the movie is screened.
